How to Review Assessment Answers with ZIN AI

How to Review Assessment Answers with ZIN AI

Overview

Review with ZIN AI gives you a first pass over a vendor's submitted assessment. ZIN reads each answer together with the evidence the vendor attached, proposes a verdict with its reasoning, and hands the list to you. You accept, override or skip each one, and only what you choose is written to the assessment.

ZIN does the reading. You remain the reviewer: nothing is applied until you say so, and nothing is sent to the vendor until you submit the review yourself.

Prerequisites

  • Review with ZIN AI switched on for your organisation. It is enabled per organisation, for everyone in it. If you do not see the button, contact support@zeron.one and ask for it to be turned on.
  • Permission to review assessments (vendor:assessment:review). Viewing the answers needs vendor:assessment:view.
  • An assessment in which the vendor has submitted at least some answers. ZIN only reads answers the vendor has completed.

Starting a Review

Navigation: Sidebar → Vendors → [select a vendor] → open the assessment for review

  1. Open the assessment review workspace as you normally would.
  2. In the toolbar at the top, click Review with ZIN AI. It sits to the left of Import Assessment and Submit Reviews.
  3. A panel opens on the right of the screen, next to the questionnaire. The review starts by itself — there is no second button to press.

While it works the panel reads Zin is reviewing… and lists the steps it is on, such as Grading answers against evidence. A long assessment takes longer, because each answered question is read individually.

What ZIN Reviews, and What It Leaves Alone

AnswerWhat ZIN does
Vendor has not completed it yetSkipped
You (or a colleague) have already reviewed itSkipped
Marked Review RequiredProposes a verdict with a confidence figure and its reasoning
Any other completed answerDrafts a short comment for your organisation's notes instead of a verdict
Left blank with no evidence attachedMarked Non Compliant at 0% confidence, with the reason No response provided and no evidence attached.

For each answer ZIN reads the vendor's response and the opening sections of up to three attached evidence documents. If a vendor attached more than three files, or the proof is deep inside a long document, ZIN may not have seen it — open the evidence yourself before relying on the verdict.

Reading the Results

When it finishes, the panel shows a card headed with the number of answers reviewed and the categories they span.

Each verdict row shows:

  • The category and the question
  • A coloured verdict label
  • A confidence percentage
  • The rationale — why ZIN reached that verdict
  • Up to six citations pointing to the evidence it relied on

The four verdicts:

VerdictColourMeaning
CompliantGreenThe answer and evidence satisfy the question
Partially CompliantAmberSome of what was asked is demonstrated, not all
Non CompliantRedThe answer or evidence does not satisfy the question
Not ApplicableGreyThe question does not apply to this vendor

In the ZIN panel the labels are shown in capitals with underscores, for example PARTIALLY_COMPLIANT. They are the same four statuses you use elsewhere in the review workspace.

Confidence is ZIN's own estimate of how sure it is, from 0% to 100%. Treat 80% and above as high confidence — that is the line the Only high-confidence filter uses.

Deciding What to Keep

Every row starts on Accept. Change it where you disagree.

For a verdict row:

  • Accept — keep ZIN's verdict and rationale.
  • Override — choose a different verdict from the dropdown and type your reason. Your reason is what is stored on the answer, not ZIN's.
  • Skip — leave this answer untouched so you can review it by hand.

For a comment row:

  • Accept — keep the drafted comment. You can edit the text first.
  • Skip — do not add a comment.

At the bottom of the card:

  • All — select every row
  • None — clear the selection
  • Only high-confidence — select only the verdicts at 80% confidence or above
  • A counter showing how many rows are selected

A sound way to work: click Only high-confidence, glance through those rows, apply them, and then give your attention to what is left.

Applying Your Decisions

Click Apply accepted (N) at the top of the card. N is the number of rows selected.

  • For an accepted verdict, the answer's review status is set and the reason is recorded as AI-assisted review: followed by ZIN's rationale, so anyone reading the record later can see it began as an AI proposal.
  • For an overridden verdict, your chosen status and your own reason are recorded.
  • For a comment, the text is saved as your organisation's comment on the answer.

The button changes to Applied and the card locks. A result card then tells you how many were applied and how many failed, and lists the first few failures if there were any.

Applying does not send anything to the vendor. The review is not submitted until you click Submit Reviews in the toolbar, exactly as with a manual review.

Running It Again

There is no re-run button. Close the panel and click Review with ZIN AI again.

  • Answers you have already applied are treated as reviewed and do not come back.
  • Where the vendor's answer and evidence are unchanged, ZIN reuses its earlier draft.
  • Where the vendor has changed an answer or its evidence, that answer is read again.

This makes it useful after a vendor responds to your follow-up: run it again and only the changed answers need fresh attention.

Usage

When a review finishes, a line at the bottom of the panel shows the ZIN usage for that run and the AI credit your organisation has left. The credit figure turns amber as you approach your limit and red when the limit is reached.

Good Practice

  • Read the rationale, not just the label. A verdict is only as good as the reasoning beside it.
  • Low confidence means "look yourself". Do not accept a low-confidence verdict because it is convenient.
  • Watch for 0% rows. A row at 0% is either a blank answer with no evidence, or one ZIN could not grade. Both deserve a human look.
  • Check the evidence on anything critical. ZIN reads the start of up to three documents per answer, not every page of every file.
  • You are accountable for the review. ZIN's verdicts are proposals. What you apply and submit is your organisation's decision.

Troubleshooting

I don't see Review with ZIN AI → The feature is switched on per organisation. Contact support@zeron.one to have it enabled.

The panel says there are no answers to grade → Either the vendor has not completed any answers yet, or every completed answer has already been reviewed.

A row shows Partially Compliant at 0% with "grading error" in the rationale → ZIN could not grade that one answer. Set the row to Skip and review it by hand, or close the panel and run the review again.

"Couldn't reach the agent" → The ZIN service did not respond. Close the panel and try again in a few minutes. If it keeps happening, contact support.

"Your AI budget has been exhausted" → Your organisation has used its AI allowance. Contact support@zeron.one or your account manager.

Some rows failed when I applied → The result card lists which ones. The usual cause is missing permission to review assessments, or a session that has expired — sign in again and re-run. Rows that failed have not been changed.

ZIN missed evidence that was clearly attached → It reads up to three documents per answer and the opening sections of each. Override the verdict with your own reason.
