How to Manage Dashboards (Templates, Filters, Export/Import)

This guide covers managing your Interno dashboards — creating them (including from templates), applying global filters, setting a default, and exporting/importing them. To build the widgets inside a dashboard, see How to Build Custom Widgets and Dashboards and How to Customize Widget Appearance & Colors.

What you'll need: Dashboard permissions (defence:dashboard:view to view; defence:dashboard:create / :update / :delete to manage).

Create a dashboard

On a dashboard, click Create (top-right) and choose:

  • Dashboard — a new blank dashboard you fill with widgets.
  • ZIN Dashboard — an AI-generated dashboard (see How to Create AI-Powered Dashboards).
  • Widget, Evidence, or Alerts — create those items directly.

Create from a template

When creating a dashboard you can start from a Template instead of blank. Switch between the Template and My tabs to pick pre-built template widgets, give the dashboard a Title and Description, and create it.

Switch and arrange widgets (Edit Dashboard)

  1. Open the dashboard's menu (top-right) and choose Edit Dashboard.
  2. Use the Widgets selector to add or remove widgets, drag to rearrange, or click Auto Layout.
  3. Click Save Changes.

Global Filters

Click Global Filters (top of the dashboard) to apply filters across every widget at once — useful for scoping a whole dashboard to a department, source, or time range without editing each widget.

Set a default dashboard

Open the menu and choose Set As Default. That dashboard then loads first when you open Interno.

Export & import a dashboard

  • Export Dashboard (⋮ menu) — download the dashboard definition, e.g. to share or back it up.
  • Import Dashboard (⋮ menu) — load a previously exported dashboard.

Delete a dashboard

Open the menu and choose Delete Dashboard. This removes the dashboard (its widgets remain available to add elsewhere). Deletion needs defence:dashboard:delete.
