Overview

The ZIN Dashboard builder turns a sentence into a dashboard. You describe what you want to see, ZIN proposes a set of widgets with the query and chart type already chosen, you tick the ones you want, and Interno builds a dashboard from them.

Nothing is saved until you click Build, so you stay in control of what gets created.

Interno has three ways to build with ZIN. Pick the one that fits.

Prerequisites

• defence:dashboard:create. Without it the builder shows an unauthorised screen.
• At least one integration connected with data collected. ZIN only proposes widgets whose query returns data, so with no data there is nothing to propose.

Step 1: Describe What You Need

Navigation: Sidebar → Dashboard → Create → ZIN Dashboard

You can also click the Create Dashboard with ZIN card on the Create or select a dashboard page, which is shown when no dashboard is open.

The page opens on Create Your Zin Dashboard, with the line Describe the dashboard you need, and our Zin will suggest the perfect KRIs and KPIs for your requirements.

1. Type your request in the prompt box. Its placeholder reads Describe your dashboard needs... (e.g., 'Create a Cybersecurity Threat Monitoring Dashboard').
2. Or click one of the suggestion buttons above the box. A suggestion fills the prompt box; it does not send it, so you can edit the text first.
3. Press Enter, or click the arrow button at the end of the box, to send. Press Shift + Enter for a new line instead.

The arrow button shows a spinner while ZIN works. The prompt cannot be empty or only spaces.

Step 2: Review the Suggested Widgets

The page changes to List of Widgets. Each suggestion is a card with a checkbox, a title, a description and a live preview drawn from your data.

1. Read each card and its preview.
2. Click a card, or tick its checkbox, to select it. Click again to deselect it.
3. To change how a suggestion is drawn, click Modify on its card and choose the x-Axis, y-Axis and Chart Type. Click away to close the panel.
4. Watch the Build Dashboard button. It shows the number of widgets selected, for example Build Dashboard(3), and stays greyed out until at least one is selected. The page reminds you: Please select at least one widget to build your dashboard.
5. Click Build Dashboard.

Ask again

If the suggestions are not what you wanted, change the text in the prompt box at the top of the list (or click one of the Prompt Suggestions) and send it again.

• Widgets you have already selected are kept.
• Unselected suggestions are removed and the new suggestions are added.

This lets you assemble a dashboard over several prompts, keeping the best of each.

What to know about suggestions

• ZIN checks every query it writes against your data. A suggestion whose query fails or returns nothing is left out, so the list can be shorter than you expect.
• If no suggestion survives the check, the list reads No widgets found. Generate to see suggestions.

Step 3: Confirm and Build

The Build Confirmation window opens and asks Are you sure you want to proceed with building this dashboard?

1. Check the Title. ZIN fills it in from your request; if it has nothing to go on, it reads AI Dashboard. The title is required.
2. Check the Description. ZIN fills it in too; the fallback is AI generated dashboard. It is optional and limited to 500 words.
3. Click Build. The button reads Building... while Interno creates the widgets and the dashboard.

Interno confirms with Dashboard created successfully! and opens the new dashboard in edit mode. To finish:

1. Arrange the widgets if you wish: drag to move, drag the bottom-right corner to resize, or click Auto Layout.
2. Click Save Changes.

What Gets Created

Anything ZIN builds is an ordinary dashboard and ordinary widgets afterwards. You can:

• make the dashboard public by clicking the pencil icon next to its name in edit mode and choosing Public Dashboard
• open any of its widgets in the Query Builder and change the query, chart type or colours
• add your own widgets, or remove ZIN's

The builder does not check for existing widgets. Building two dashboards from similar prompts creates two sets of similar widgets in the Query Library. Delete the ones you do not need from the Widget tab.

Tips for Better Suggestions

• Name the subject and the measures you care about, for example privileged accounts without MFA, or critical vulnerabilities by device criticality, rather than asking for a general security dashboard.
• Mention the tools whose data you want to see when you have several connected.
• Check each preview before you select it. The preview is the widget, drawn from your live data.
• Open each new widget afterwards and read its query before you rely on its figures or share the dashboard.

Troubleshooting

The ZIN Dashboard option is missing from the Create menu → It needs defence:dashboard:create. Ask your administrator.

The builder shows an unauthorised screen → Same cause: defence:dashboard:create is missing.

Nothing happens when I send the prompt → The prompt is empty or only spaces. Type a request first.

"No widgets found. Generate to see suggestions." → None of ZIN's queries returned data. Check under Admin → Integrations that the relevant integration has completed a scan, then ask about data you know has been collected.

I got fewer suggestions than I expected → Suggestions whose query failed or returned no rows are left out.

The suggestions are not relevant → Be more specific about the metrics, tools or security area, and send the prompt again. Suggestions you have selected are kept.

Build Dashboard is greyed out → No widget is selected. Tick at least one suggestion.

"Enter title" or "Title cannot be only spaces" → The dashboard needs a title in the Build Confirmation window.

"Description must be less than 500 words" → Shorten the description.

Building is refused because the name already exists → You already have a private dashboard with that title. Change the Title and click Build again.

My layout reverted after I moved the widgets → The dashboard opens in edit mode after building, and edit mode saves only when you click Save Changes.

A widget on the new dashboard shows the wrong data → ZIN wrote the query from your wording. Open the widget in the Query Builder, correct the query and click Update Widget.
