Overview

The ZIN Dashboard builder turns a sentence into a dashboard. You describe what you want to see, ZIN proposes a set of widgets with queries and chart types already chosen, you keep the ones you like, and Interno builds the dashboard from them.

It is the fastest way to get started. For fine-grained control over a single query, use the widget query builder instead — see *How to Build Custom Widgets and Dashboards*.

Prerequisites

• The dashboard create permission (defence:dashboard:create)
• At least one integration connected and scanned, so the generated queries have data to run against

Step 1: Describe What You Need

Navigation: Sidebar → Dashboard → Create → ZIN Dashboard

If you have no dashboards yet, you can also get here from Create Dashboard with ZIN on the *Create or select a dashboard* screen.

The page opens on Create Your Zin Dashboard, with the line *Describe the dashboard you need, and our Zin will suggest the perfect KRIs and KPIs for your requirements.*

1. Type your request into the prompt box, or click one of the suggestion chips above it for a quick start.
2. Submit with the arrow button, or just press Enter (Shift + Enter gives you a new line instead).

Step 2: Review the Suggested Widgets

ZIN streams back a set of suggested widgets. Each one comes with a title, a description, the query behind it and a chart type already picked.

1. Go through the list and click the widgets you want to keep. Clicking a selected widget again removes it.
2. You can change the chart type on a suggestion before building.
3. The page reminds you: *Please select at least one widget to build your dashboard.*
4. Click Build Dashboard. The button shows how many widgets you have selected.

If the suggestions are not what you wanted, edit your prompt and submit again. Any widgets you had already selected are carried over; the rest are replaced by the new suggestions.

Step 3: Confirm and Build

Build Confirmation opens and asks *Are you sure you want to proceed with building this dashboard?*

1. Check the Title and Description. ZIN pre-fills both from your request; if it has nothing to go on they default to *AI Dashboard* and *AI generated dashboard*. Both are required, and the description is capped at 500 words.
2. Click Build.

Interno creates the widgets, assembles them into a grid and opens the new dashboard in the editor so you can rearrange it straight away. Remember to click Save Changes if you move anything.

ZIN-built dashboards are created as private dashboards. In the dashboard picker they carry a Zin Generated marker.

How It Differs From the Widget Builder

Anything ZIN builds is an ordinary widget afterwards. You can open it in the query builder and change the query, chart type or colours like any other.

Troubleshooting

The suggestions aren't relevant → Be more specific. Name the metrics, the tools or the security area you care about rather than asking for something general, then submit again.

Build Dashboard is greyed out → No widget is selected. Click at least one suggestion first — trying to build with none shows *Atleast one widget needs to be selected!*

The prompt box won't accept my text → The prompt cannot be empty or only spaces.

The new dashboard's widgets are empty → ZIN writes the queries but the data still has to be there. Check under Admin → Integrations that the relevant connector has completed a scan.

I can't find the ZIN Dashboard option → It sits in the Create menu on the Dashboard page and needs defence:dashboard:create. Ask your administrator if it is missing.

My layout reverted after I moved the widgets → The dashboard opens in edit mode after building, and edit mode does not auto-save. Click Save Changes.
